In the CIF Division III Boys Volleyball Championship, top-seeded La Jolla needed just four games to knock off No. 3 seed Ramona and claim its first title since 1989. The Vikings won 25-17, 21-25, 26-24 and 25-21 and were led to victory by KBC Sports.com's Player of the Game, senior outside hitter Matthew Jones, who led all players with 22 kills on the night.
The La Costa Canyon Mavericks claimed their ninth CIF Division I Boys Volleyball title in the last 12 years with a three games to one win over the Carlsbad Lancers (22-25, 25-14, 25-11 & 25-13). The top-seeded Mavericks were led by KBC Sports.com's Player of the Game, senior outside hitter Beau Vandeweghe, who led the way with 18 kills. Vandeweghe, who is headed to Pepperdine to continue his volleyball career on the next level, also served up three aces for the Mavericks.
The top-seed Mt. Carmel Sundevils were pushed to the limits, but prevailed in the 2008 CIF Division II Boys Volleyball Championships, taking out the No. 2 seeded Scripps Ranch in five games (21-25, 25-22, 25-19, 20-25 & 15-10). The Sundevils were led to victory by KBCsports.com's Player of the Game, senior middle blocker Brett Rooks, who had eight kills, including four in the deciding fifth game.
The Division IV Boys Volleyball title match proved to be a real thriller as No. 3 seed St. Augustine pushed top seeded Francis Parker to five games before the Lancers prevailed with a 25-15, 25-11, 22-25, 25-27, 15-13 win. The match took well over two hours to play and Francis Parker took control behind the right arm and powerful swing of KBC Sports.com's Player of the Game, junior outside hitter Myles Muagututia, who contributed 27 kills and three aces.
